Bangkok 22nd March 2006: Bosch presents its latest technologies under the theme “Invented for Life“ at the 27th Bangkok International Motor Show to both original equipment and aftermarket customers. The focal points of innovation in the automotive sector are clean and economical drive systems as well as driver assistance systems. New and clever solutions from the consumer goods and building technology sector are also on display.

Innovative Automotive Technologies

The current generations of the common rail from Bosch make diesel engines powerful, quiet, and economical, as well as reducing their emissions of pollutants. The latest product is the third generation common rail system with innovative piezo-inline technology with 1600 bar injection pressure which is going to be raised to 1800 bar this year, while 2000 bar are planned in 2007. The piezo-inline injectors operate exceptionally fast, and therefore help to reduce emissions by up to 20 percent. Power output, fuel consumption and engine noise are also improved. Modern diesel cars guarantee driving enjoyment. Not only do they offer powerful acceleration, but they score also through low consumption, long-range, and therefore fewer refuelling stops.

In addition to modern diesel and gasoline solutions, Bosch is also actively involved in the development and system integration of the hybrid drive. There are three functional categories of hybrid technology offered by Bosch: “micro hybrids” with start/stop function, “mild hybrids“ with boost effect and “strong hybrids“ which allow for driving with electrical energy over short distances. Bosch plans the first production of micro hybrid systems for the year 2006.

The Electronic Stability Program (ESP),first launched by Bosch in 1995, makes a significant contribution to road safety. According to the National Agency for Automotive Safety and Victims’ Aid in Japan, vehicles with ESP are involved in almost a third fewer head-on collisions and traffic accidents than vehicles without ESP. Bosch will have an ESP simulator at the Bangkok Motor Show to allow visitors to have a hands-on experience on how ESP reacts to prevent potential skidding accidents.

Visitors from the workshop sector are invited to visit the Bosch Car Service corner for information on diagnostic equipments and trading of automotive spare parts for European and Japanese vehicles. The Bosch technical staff will be happy to assist interested workshop owners.

Inside the car, Blaupunkt Car Multimedia has a variety of products on offer from the factory-standard models installed as original equipments to the latest award winning innovative model, Bremen MP 74 to serve the premier customers.

15th anniversary celebration: Innovation from consumer and building technology

To mark the 15th anniversary of Bosch in Thailand, Bosch will also present  technologies from its consumer and building technology sector. One example is the world’s first cordless screwdriver “IXO” that uses battery lithium ion and delivers the full extent of its power even if it has been left unused in a drawer for year. There is no memory effect, allowing the user to recharge the IXO regardless of its charging state without shrinking its capacity. The IXO is small, light weight, handy and always ready for use when it is needed. The new Conqueror 2 for workshop usage will also be displayed and ready for demonstration at the Bosch booth.

The Easy Series Intrusion Control Panel from Bosch is the latest innovation in security systems and has recently been given international recognition, winning a prestigious award at the Detektor-International award ceremony during the Sectech exhibition in Stockholm in the category of “Innovative Achievements”. It features a stylish and easy to use interface and is designed for private houses and small commercial premises.

Bosch innovations will be presented at the 27th Bangkok International Motor Show, BITEC centre during March 24 to April 2, 2006 at Hall 106, booth no. B7.
