Bosch presents latest technologies at the 28th Bangkok International Motor Show : Clean, economical and safe drive systems Bangkok 29th March 2007: Bosch presents its latest technologies under the theme “Invented for Life” at the 28th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS). The focal points of innovation in the automotive sector are clean and economical drive systems as well as driver assistance systems. Innovative Automotive Technologies Mercedes Benz started to sell its E320 Diesel passenger car in Japan in September 2006. In the same year Toyota, Honda, Nissan and other Japanese carmakers announced their plans to export diesel passenger cars with Common rail technology to the U.S. and Europe and to also offer them in Japan by 2009/2010. At this years BIMS, Bosch exhibits the Mercedes Benz CLK 320 CDI Diesel passenger car to show their modern diesel technology. Current generations of the common rail system for passenger vehicles from Bosch make diesel engines more economical and reduce their emissions of pollutants especially particulate (PM) and NOx. The latest product is the third generation common rail system with innovative piezo–inline technology and 1600 bar injection pressure which is going to be raised to 1800 bar in 2007, while 2000 bar are planned in 2008. The piezo-inline injectors operate exceptionally fast, and therefore help to reduce emissions by up to 20 percent. Power output, fuel consumption and engine noise are also improved. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC), first launched by Bosch in 1995, makes a significant contribution to road safety. According to the National Agency for Automotive Safety and Victim’s Aid in Japan, vehicles with ESC are involved in almost a third fewer head-on collisions and traffic accidents than vehicles without ESC. In September 2006, the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Authority (NHTSA) announced the plan to increase safety on U.S. roads by making ESC a mandatory requirement for all light cars. A requirement that will be gradually phased in from the 2009 model year up to the 2012 model year. This would make the U.S. the first country to mandate the installation of an active safety system. The installation rate of ESC will increase especially in U.S., Europe and Japan. Bosch will have an ESC simulator at the BIMS to allow visitors to have a hands-on experience on how ESC reacts to prevent potential skidding accidents. Bosch innovations will be presented at 28th Bangkok International Motor Show, BITEC centre from March 28 to April 8, 2007 in Hall 106, at booth no. B3. Current News |
