Bosch Thailand : New Business Process for Enhanced Customer Service

New Business Process for Enhanced Customer Service

 Bosch appoints Cougar Logistics (Thailand) Ltd to provide professional warehousing and logistics support
 Bosch customers to experience easier availability and on-time delivery of products

Bangkok 25th April 2007 - Bosch Thailand has enhanced its business process by making its products more conveniently available to the market through the professional warehousing and logistics services of Cougar Logistics (Thailand) Ltd.

The decision to outsource its warehouse and logistics service to a third party supplier is in line with Bosch Thailand’s plans to further drive growth in 2007 by implementing its ‘Be QIK’ strategy in all its business processes. The strategy stands for quality, innovation and customer focus and was introduced by Paulo Ferreira, Managing Director of Robert Bosch Limited at the company’s annual press conference in March.

With the newly implemented process, Bosch Thailand will focus on its core competency of bringing innovation and quality products to the Thai market, leaving the timely delivery and distribution of products and spare parts to its customers to Cougar, who will serve as a single ‘one-stop’ logistics service provider.

“The experience Cougar has gained with Bosch in Singapore and Malaysia for many years makes them familiar and acquainted with Bosch parts and products.  This gives them the advantage of meeting our high requirement for reliable and quality delivery services to our customers in Thailand,” said Ferreira.

Heinz-Peter Faust, Chief Executive Officer for Cougar Warehousing and Logistics Division added: “Cougar will deliver Bosch products to their customers throughout Thailand.  Our experience with Bosch in other Asian markets and from our achievement of receiving the ISO awards for logistics services to Bosch Malaysia in the first 15 months of assignment, we are confident that we will be able to add value to Bosch’s customer service here”.

The essential tasks assigned to Cougar include receiving and inspecting all in-coming goods, kitting, pick-packing operations, and domestic delivery to customers with accountability to the performance.  The wide range of Bosch goods will be accommodated through customised warehousing and storage types.

Mr. Satit Chanjavanakul, the Secretary General of Thailand Board of Investment said Robert Bosch Thailand is known as a leader in automotive and industrial technology, consumer goods and building technology.  The company has made significant contributions to these industries in Thailand.  With Thailand on track to achieve its goal of becoming one of the world’s top-ten automotive manufacturers within the year 2010, we require a strong supporting parts and components industry.  BOI is working to improve Thailand’s export competitiveness by working with local companies to ensure understanding of the required specifications and international standard.  The success of BOI effort that has been achieved can be seen from the 2006 Thailand export value of 80,489.34 million baht in OEM components and 6,647.28 million baht in body parts.

The logistics costs of Thailand as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2005 were approximately 16%.  The government is working hard to reduce to a level of 13% by the year 2010.  To strengthen the logistics capacity of Thailand, the BOI has recently issued new incentives for logistics parks developers and for international distribution centers.  This includes an 8-year corporate income tax for logistics parks providers and for IDCs located in logistics parks, 5 years if outside.  Both these categories qualify for machinery import duty exemptions.
