Bangkok – Bosch presents its innovative automotive technologies at the 29th Bangkok International Motor Show during March 28 – April 6, 2008. The focal points of innovation in the automotive sector are clean and economical drive systems as well as driver assistance systems. Highlight of exhibited items are the ‘BMW 535d’ luxury sports car, equipped with Bosch common rail system, the ESP® simulator for training experience and components of the night vision system. Martin Hayes, Vice President of ASEAN Sales Original Equipment, Bosch Automotive (Thailand) Co., Ltd. said that Bosch will present its innovative automotive technologies under the theme "Technology for Clean & Clear Air“. Bosch will exhibit the luxury sports car ‘BMW 535d’ a passenger car equipped with the Bosch innovative diesel common rail system. Current generations of the common rail system for passenger vehicles from Bosch make diesel engines more economical and reduce their emissions of pollutants especially particulate (PM) and NOx. The common rail system with solenoid injector technology and 1600 bar injection pressure operate exceptionally fast, and therefore help to reduce emissions by up to 20 percent. Power output, fuel consumption and engine noise are also improved. In addition to clean diesel solutions, Bosch is also actively involved in the development of active safety driving systems. Bosch was the first company to introduce an electronic Antilock Braking System (ABS) to the market in 1978. “Moreover, our night vision system is another important safety technology which makes driving by night more comfortable and safer”, said Mr. Hayes. “The active infrared Night Vision system with a range of about 150 meters, compared to the 40 meters supplied by the low beam of a regular halogen headlamp, gives the driver with an accurate image of the situation in front of the car. The system consists basically of an infrared video camera attached between the interior rear-view mirror and the windshield, a display in the cockpit, the electronic control unit and two infrared headlamps. The high-resolution, brilliant image on the monitor is rich in contrast and details; it is very similar to the normal visual impression received with high beam. This allows the driver to better follow the course of the road in the dark, get better bearings of the environment and to see other road users or possible obstacles early on. Light from headlamps of oncoming vehicles is attenuate in the monitor image and no longer blinds the driver. “All these features of Night Vision help to relieve the feeling of insecurity which overcomes many drivers when driving by night”, added Mr. Hayes. Bosch offer the Motor Show visitors to have a hands-on experience on how ESP reacts to prevent potential skidding accidents plus the first ever occasion for the visitors to book Bosch automotive aftermarket spare parts at a very special price during the fair. Bosch solutions for environment protection and road safety will be presented at the 29th Bangkok International Motor Show, BITEC Center during March 28 to April 6, 2008 at Hall 106, booth no. B11.
